Ingredients

2 cups plain Greek yogurt

1 cup unsweetened applesauce

1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup for a vegan alternative)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 medium apple, peeled and finely chopped (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

A pinch of salt

Optional toppings: crushed nuts, raisins, or granola for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Yogurt Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, honey (or maple syrup), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Using a whisk, blend the mixture until it is smooth and well combined, ensuring there are no lumps.

Make the Apple Cinnamon Swirl: In a separate bowl, combine the unsweetened applesauce with the ground cinnamon. Add the finely chopped apple to the mixture and stir gently until the apple pieces are evenly coated in the cinnamon-infused applesauce.

Combine the Mixtures: Carefully fold the apple cinnamon mixture into the yogurt mixture. Use a spatula to create a lovely swirl effect, taking care not to completely blend the two mixtures together. You want visible streaks of apple-cinnamon throughout the yogurt.

Pipe or Spoon into Molds: Using a piping bag or a spoon, fill silicone disc molds (or mini muffin tins) with the yogurt-apple mixture. Make sure to level off the mixture at the top for a neat finish. If molds are unavailable, you can alternatively spread the mixture onto a lined baking sheet, creating circles with a spoon.

Freeze: Place the filled molds in the freezer for a minimum of 4 hours, or until the discs are completely frozen solid.

Serve: Once the discs are fully frozen, gently remove them from the molds. If you used a baking sheet, carefully peel off the parchment paper. Serve the frozen discs immediately or store them in an airtight container in the freezer for future enjoyment.

Optional Toppings: For added texture and flavor, sprinkle the frozen discs with crushed nuts, raisins, or granola just before serving. This will enhance the dish and add a delightful crunch.
