Greek yogurt is renowned for its thick, creamy consistency and is often hailed as a superfood due to its impressive nutritional profile. Unlike regular yogurt, Greek yogurt is strained to remove excess whey, resulting in a concentrated source of protein, probiotics, and calcium. This makes it an excellent base for our frozen yogurt recipe.

Ingredients

2 cups plain Greek yogurt

1 cup fresh figs, chopped (about 10-12 figs)

1/2 cup sliced almonds

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (adjust according to sweetness preference)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Optional: dark chocolate shavings or a drizzle for topping

Instructions

Prepare the Figs: Begin by thoroughly washing the fresh figs under cold water to remove any impurities. Remove the stems from each fig and chop them into small, bite-sized pieces. For a smoother texture, you can blend the chopped figs in a food processor for a few seconds. Set the figs aside once prepared.

Combine Ingredients: In a spacious mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt with your choice of honey or maple syrup, the vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Whisk the mixture vigorously until all the ingredients are smoothly blended and fully incorporated.

Add Figs and Almonds: Gently fold the chopped figs and sliced almonds into the yogurt mixture. Be careful to mix them evenly without over-stirring, ensuring that the figs and almonds are well-distributed throughout the yogurt.

Mold the Discs: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Using a cookie scoop or a spoon, drop rounded tablespoons of the yogurt mixture onto the parchment paper, flattening them slightly with the back of the scoop or spoon to form circular discs. Adjust the size of the discs to your liking, keeping in mind that smaller discs will freeze faster.

Freeze: Carefully place the baking sheet in the freezer and allow the discs to freeze for approximately 4-6 hours, or until they are completely solid.

Serve or Store: Once frozen, you may serve the discs immediately as a refreshing treat or transfer them to an airtight container for later enjoyment. If you wish to add dark chocolate shavings or a drizzle, do so just before serving for the best flavor and presentation.

Enjoy: When you're ready to indulge, let the discs sit out at room temperature for about one minute to soften slightly, making them easier to enjoy. Dive into your deliciously creamy and fruity frozen yogurt treat!

Prep Time: 20 min | Total Time: 6-6.5 hours | Servings: Approximately 12-15 discs

                  - Presentation Tips: Arrange the discs on a beautiful serving platter, and consider garnishing with extra sliced almonds or a sprinkle of cinnamon for an eye-catching finish.
