Ingredients

1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup cooked and chopped Hatch green chiles (canned or fresh)

½ cup cream cheese, softened

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Optional: fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to preheat at 375°F (190°C), ensuring it's fully heated before baking the rolls.

Prepare the Filling: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, cooked and chopped Hatch green chiles, and softened cream cheese. Add in the garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything thoroughly until well blended and the filling is creamy. Set aside.

Roll Out the Crescent Dough: On a clean, flat surface, carefully unroll the crescent roll dough. Separate the dough into triangles along the perforations, ensuring they maintain their shape.

Stuff the Rolls: Take a generous spoonful of the filling and place it at the wide end of each dough triangle. Starting from the wide end, roll the dough towards the pointed end, enclosing the filling. Pinch the seams tightly to seal the rolls and prevent any filling from leaking out during baking.

Brush with Egg Wash: Arrange the stuffed crescent rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Using a pastry brush, apply the beaten egg evenly over the tops of each roll to achieve a rich, golden-brown color as they bake.

Bake the Rolls: Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven. Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until they are puffed, golden brown, and irresistible.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the rolls from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet. Just before serving, garnish with chopped fresh cilantro for a vibrant touch. Enjoy these delicious rolls warm!
