Ingredients

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup marinara sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

12 slider buns

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Olive oil (for frying)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the chicken breasts horizontally into thin cutlets, ensuring they are even for uniform cooking.

Set Up Dredging Stations: Create a dredging station using three shallow dishes. In the first dish, combine the flour with ½ teaspoon of salt and black pepper. In the second dish, whisk the eggs until well beaten. In the third dish, mix the breadcrumbs with garlic powder and dried oregano, ensuring an even distribution of spices.

Coat the Chicken: Take each chicken cutlet and dip it into the flour mixture first, shaking off any excess flour. Next, immerse it in the egg mixture, allowing the excess egg to drip off before placing it in the breadcrumb mixture. Press down gently to ensure the cutlet is evenly coated in breadcrumbs.

Fry the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat about ¼ inch of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the chicken cutlets in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the cutlets for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove the cooked cutlets and let them drain on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.

Assemble the Sliders: Take the bottom half of each slider bun and spread a generous spoonful of marinara sauce. Place a fried chicken cutlet on top of the sauce, then sprinkle a mix of shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the cutlet to create a cheesy layer.

Bake the Sliders: Arrange the assembled sliders on a baking sheet. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden in color.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven and add a fresh basil leaf to each one for an aromatic finish. Cap the sliders with the top halves of the buns and serve them warm for the best flavor experience.
